There are many ways to do this art form, but here is one version...
Draw a long, narrow ellipse, at page center
Outline this with another ellipse,
making the width between the two ellipses equal, all the way around.
Use the width measure for the distance to draw another double ellipse figure,
to line up with the first.
Now draw a same set of ellipses perpendicular to the first two.
You should now have four ellipses; two horizontal and two vertical.
You will now erase lines to show the interweaving of the ellipses or links.
Pick one ellipse and erase two lines, erasing one direction, at an intersection of links.
Alternate the direction to erase as you follow around that ellipse.
Continue in this pattern for the rest of the links or ellipses.
Start at a point from the first ellipse and begin this process for the next, and so on.
Outline and clean-up your drawing.
Bring dimension into your picture by shading.
Choose a spot on the paper to be a point of light source.
An opposite spot on the paper will be the direction of heaviest shading.
Remember that where two links intersect, a shadow is cast from the top link.
Use the picture as a guide.
Send me pictures and I will put them in the photo gallery...
