due date: 11/12/12
I saw this project on another blog and thought that this would be great for us. My boys could use an exercise that helps them practice using encouraging and positive words.
Now that you know the inspiration to this project, here is how it will go...
This project needs at least two participants.
We will list about 20 positive and encouraging things about ourselves. Like-wise, we will need to be able to list about ten encouraging and positive things about the other person.
Some examples:
Never give up
I am a child of God
He who is in me, is greater than he that is in the world
I have a purpose
God loves me
My parents love me
I am fearfully and wonderfully made
My steps are ordered by the Lord
I am good at...
List your talents and giftings, the list goes on...
We need white drawing paper, at least 8.5 x 11
pencil and eraser
permanent marker or pen (others will run with water colors)
water colors (with brush, cup of water, and paper towel)
Draw a "bust" outline yourself on the paper or you may use this template to trace one:
Use the 20 positive words and phrases about yourself to creatively fill inside of the template.
Let others put encouraging words and phrases outside the outline.
I suggest to pencil in the words and phrases first, then use the marker or pen to finish.
When using permanent marker, make sure you have something underneath the paper, it will bleed through the back and mark what ever is under the paper.
Change the design of each word/phrase by changing the letter shape or direction. Consider changing them by adding texture to the inside of each letter.
After all the encouraging words fill up the spaces, use the watercolors to apply color.
(I love that one of my boys put "grate art maker")
I used a wet brush to "push" the watercolors over the page and keep the color light. It dries quickly, though. Work fast, keeping it wet until you go on to another color or area of the picture.
Work on a wipeable surface. A plastic place matt worked well for me.
Send a picture of your work for the club. I will post it in Gallery #9 after the due date.
Our words are powerful, so use your power for good!
