Project #21 Zentangle Inspired

OH MY GOODNESS! I can't believe how much time has gone by! I am in the process of moving and finishing up our school year. I am working on a post! Should be ready for next week.

If you like to order from the businesses advertized here, linking to them through this site would benefit me at no expense to you. Thank you, in advance.

Zentangle Anyone?

I am new to this artform. It keeps popping up as I search the internet and endless blogs. Recently, I found a blog that it is right up there with my favs; it has inspired me for a couple more projects, including this Zentangle inspired project...

Following this introduction are two links that will describe what Zentangle is. By what I understand, Zentangles are black and white organic, free-form, pattern doodles, created on a 3.5" square. The method is to arrange unplanned patterns with in that area. Click on the next two links to learn more about it...

I am including an owl pattern to motivate. I have found that organic exercises are not so easy for those not used to free-doodling.

Here is a crude outline of the owl "motivating" pattern...
(feel free to revise it or draw your own)

Remember, I said this project was Zentangle inspired. What I want you to do, is copy this owl into a document and enlarge it if you need to (I think 3.5 would be too small for this exercise). Just focus on using the sections of the owl to fill with different patterns. Below, are some links and examples that show various ways to draw patterns.

The below squares of patterns are from this link:
They are easier for beginners...you could copy, paste and print to have handy while drawing.

Of course the first two links from the beginning, that describe Zentangle, will have patterns as well.

Have fun with your Zentangles!
